چکیده

We review the properties of hybrid stars with a quark matter core and hadronic mantle, focusing on role key micro-physical such as quark/hadron surface curvature tensions conversion speed at interface between both phases. summarize results works that have determined from microscopic calculations. If these quantities are large enough, mixed phases energetically suppressed would be separated mantle by sharp interface. is slow, new class dynamically stable objects possible. Densities tens times larger than nuclear saturation density can attained center objects. discuss possible formation mechanisms for smoking guns their observational identification.

Cosmological Gravitational Wave Background from Phase Transitions in Neutron Stars

It has recently been suggested that collapse of neutron stars induced by a phase transition to quark matter can be a considerable source of gravitational waves with kHz frequencies. We demonstrate that if about one percent of all neutron stars undergo this process, the resulting cosmological gravitational wave background would reach about 10 times the critical density. The background would peak...

Gravitational Phase Transition in Neutron Stars

The possibility of a gravitational phase transition, especially with respect to neutron stars is investigated. First, a semiclassical treatment is given, predicting a gravitational London penetration depth of 12km for neutron stars. Second, the problem is considered from a GinzburgLandau point of view. A gravitational Meissner effect, a gravitational Aharanov-Bohm type effect and a gravitationa...

A New Formation Channel for Double Neutron Stars without Recycling: Implications for Gravitational Wave Detection

We report on a new evolutionary path leading to the formation of close double neutron stars (NS), with the unique characteristic that none of the two NS ever had the chance to be recycled by accretion. The existence of this channel stems from the evolution of helium–rich stars (cores of massive NS progenitors), which has been neglected in most previous studies of double compact object formation...

Gravitational wave emission from rotating superfluid neutron stars

In this paper we investigate the effect of a pinned superfluid component on the gravitational wave emission of a steadily rotating deformed neutron star. We show that the superfluid pinning allows the possibility for there to be gravitational wave emission at both the stellar spin frequency Ω and its first harmonic, 2Ω. This contrasts with the conventional case where there is no pinned superflu...
